Anaconda 3 Installation Stuck on Mac

Trying to install anaconda 3 on my Mac running High Sierra. Installation process gets like 95% through but gets stuck on “running package scripts”. This happens when I choose the Macintosh HD location or my own user location.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is? Thank you

Try booting into Safe Mode and installing from there:

  1. Fully shut down your Mac
  2. Restart your Mac
  3. Immediately press the Shift key and keep it down
  4. Let go of the Shift key when you see the login window (NOTE: If you have FileVault enabled you may need to log in twice. Also, booting into Safe Mode can take quite a while in some cases.)
  5. Now try installing again from your download
  6. If it doesn’t work, take a note of any errors etc you get
  7. Exit Safe Mode by restarting your Mac as normal

For me, my MacOS GUI-based installation also froze on “running package scripts” but it unfroze and finished the moment I closed my terminal window, in which I had python running. No need to shut down my computer all the way in my case.
