Problems Setting Up psql

I am completely new to SQL and I’m stuck in installing PostgreSQL.
The mission “Project: PostgreSQL Installation” directs to this link https://www.bigsql.org/package-manager/ - for Postgres installers but the there is no installation wizarThis text will be hiddend. Just a set of complex command line instructions.
I have followed them through upto “apg start pg12” but when I type “psql” I get “could not connect the server”
And when I run “pg_isready” I get “/var/run/postgresql:5432 - no response”

Can someone please help me with PostrgreSQL setup from scratch! I am stuck with this mission for one week now!

Please help, i got this error when connecting to psycopg2 in my jupyter notebook

OperationalError: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket “/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432”?

Please what could likely be the problem?
