Writing in Markdown - plural or singular?

I never gave it any thought but in all of my projects, when I write conclusions, descriptions etc I use plural form. eg.

We’ll group the dataset by age and calculate the mean of the something size …
We’ve noticed this and that in step 1, thus we’ll check column 5 for…

Is using singular acceptable?(better? worse?) any literature/ opinions on that matter?

Hi Adam,

during my studies (which had nothing to do with programming or data analytics) it was always advised to write as following (not sure how this form is called):

The dataset is grouped by age in order for the mean to be calculated…
What can be noticed in step 1 is this and that. Therefore, column 5 will be checked for…

But I’m not sure whats common within the data analytics field.
